Orthotics Cleobury MortimerMidlands Physio and Sports Injury Clinic operated by Physiotherapist John Pryce proudly provides custom orthotics to Cleobury Mortimer and surrounding communities.

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are a medical device, custom shaped and sized to improve and correct the mechanics of tissues and joints in your feet. Orthotics are worn in the shoe like an insole and work to correct imbalance, strain, stress and pain in the feet and related pain in other areas of the body.

What Can Orthotics Help With?

Orthotics can be used to treat a number of conditions including

  • Heel pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Metatarsalgia (ball of foot pain)
  • Heel Spurs
  • Fallen arches
  • Walking and gait problems
  • Ankle pain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Ankle hypermobility
  • Ligament strains
  • Back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Joint pain and Arthritis

Our Process

1. Examination and Gait Assessment

Your physiotherapist will perform a comprehensive analysis of your feet, ankles and the way you walk to determine the current action and movement of your feet and lower limbs. We will also gather information on your history, symptoms, circumstances and any treatments you have tried previously to determine the best approach for your specific needs.

2. Computerised Gait Analysis

We use the latest technology to complete a highly accurate scan of the way you move. The Computerised Gait Scan collects information on the timing, pressure and other unique characteristics in the way you walk providing a detailed analysis that can not be seen by observation alone. We then use this information to determine if orthotics can assist in your treatment plan.

3. Casting your Custom Orthotics

If we believe orthotics would be beneficial to you we use the data from your gait analysis to create a dynamic cast of each foot – no need for plaster or foam casting. The dynamic cast is sent to a team of technicians who custom manufacture a pair of orthotics specifically for your feet. A range of orthotic styles are available from standard sizes, to thicker orthotics for support during sports or lighter options to fit into dress shoes.

4. Using your Orthotics

Once you have your new orthotics our trained physios will guide you through the best use of them including an injury rehabilitation plan to help in your recovery. Treatments may also include hands on physiotherapy and at home exercises to complement your orthotics.
