Back Pain Fairfield
Is your back pain impacting many areas of your life, including your sleep and your ability to participate in activities that you enjoy?
What is Back Pain?
One of the primary reasons why patients come to our clinic is back pain.
Sometimes, it can begin as a minor discomfort, progress over time, or suddenly manifest, resulting in various limitations in your life.
At our clinic, we use exclusive manual therapies and the core control program as part of our treatment for back pain. This helps your back acquire the strength and capability to manage the daily pressures of life.
Back pain can stem from a variety of factors that aren’t necessarily limited to your back. Our job is to identify these factors, design a treatment plan that addresses your condition, and assist you in getting back to doing what you enjoy without pain.

Back Pain Treatment Fairfield
Midlands Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic provides physio care for lower back pain and proudly services the local Fairfield community.
Lower back pain is an extremely common condition with up to 80% of the population experiencing back pain at some time during the lives. Although the underlying pathology of low back pain is usually not serious, it is an important cause of pain in the community and has considerable impact on the economy due to time taken off work. Whilst the vast majority of patients with back pain will recover within 6 weeks, a small number will go on to develop chronic back pain and a gradual deterioration of functionality.
Causes of Back Pain
Back pain is frequently caused by irritation or inadequate function of the bones, joints, ligaments, or muscles in your back. Vertebral dysfunction, a common condition that arises when the spinal vertebrae compress or irritate the delicate nerve structures in your lower back, may be the culprit behind such irritation.
Lower back pain can also be caused by inflammatory arthritis (such as ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis), as well as fractures resulting from osteoporosis. Moreover, back pain may be referred from another part of the body.
Less common causes of low back pain include cancer (typically originating from another source, such as the prostate or lung), severe infections, and compression of the spinal cord.

Assessment of Back Pain
Your physiotherapist will conduct a comprehensive examination of your history, orthopaedic, neurological, and spinal functions to determine the precise cause of your lower back pain. Additional assessments, such as x-rays and digital scans, may also be recommended.
Treatment for Back Pain
Physiotherapy treatment of low back pain focuses on restoring function to poorly moving spinal joints, as well as reducing muscle tension and increasing muscle strength. This results in improved movement, reduced pain and deceased nerve irritation.
Treatments are personalised to the individual case, generally comprising spinal and soft tissue mobilisation, core stabilisation guidance, strengthening exercises, stretching, and heat/cold therapy. Please get in touch with us to schedule your comprehensive lower back consultation to assist in identifying the exact cause of your back pain and commence a course of corrective treatment today!
