About Neck Pain
If you are experiencing neck pain, you will be happy to learn that our established Physiotherapy approach may provide the answer you have been looking for.
Neck pain is a frequent issue, with roughly one in 10 individuals experiencing it at any given time. This is unsurprising when we take into account the lifestyle habits of today, such as spending extended periods of time in front of a computer, watching television for prolonged periods, and an increasing incidence of poor posture, particularly forward head posture.
Pain in the shoulders, TMJ or jaw, pins and needles in the hands, carpal tunnel syndrome, upper back pain, and headaches can all be caused by neck problems.
If you frequently experience any of the following symptoms, we recommend that you contact us for a thorough assessment:
- Persistent neck pain in the morning
- Stiffness in the neck while reversing in the car
- Clicking neck noise when turning
- Continuous neck muscle ache
- Tingling in the fingers or hands

Causes of Neck Pain
By far the most common cause of neck pain relates to the effects of poor posture. In order to understand the impact of poor posture, we must first consider why spinal alignment within the neck is so important.
Your head weighs around 5 kgs and is carefully balanced on top of the seven vertebrae in your neck in normal alignment. Your muscles work hard to maintain this position and can tolerate brief variations. However, assuming awkward positions for extended periods can disrupt the fine balance and strain and irritate the nerves, muscles, joints, ligaments, and discs in your neck. In fact, the tension in your neck and shoulder muscles doubles for every 2-3 cm that your head is forward.
The build-up of strain and pressure on the neck over time can result in chronic pain, and even small adjustments in posture can have a significant impact. When combined with the demands and pressures of modern life, it’s not surprising that neck pain is such a common problem.
Whiplash, arthritis, and sports injuries are other common sources of neck pain.
Treatment for Neck Pain

After a thorough examination, including history, orthopaedic, neurological, and spinal tests, our skilled Physiotherapists will design a personalised treatment plan to reduce pressure, restore movement, and prevent further pain.
